Coming Soon To A Phone Screen Near You

I have been trying to stay off of social media and the Internet in general in the last few weeks, due to *gestures wildly at everything that is happening right now*. This break, however, coincided with the release of a new social media campaign by the American Society for the Alexander Technique (AmSAT), and so I have seen the posts vaguely flitting across my screen but haven’t really looked at them.

You may just have to accept that it’s me.

It turns out that I am in the above picture, on the left side, wearing a blue shirt with a white pattern and tan pants. I am very blurry but it’s me! This photo was taken during a workshop at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City during the AmSAT conference in 2024. I expect to be signing a modeling contract any day now, to exclusively appear fuzzily in the distance.

I wish that we didn’t have to market what we do. In fact, I think that it would be lovely to not have a social media presence at all, as we careen merrily towards a world in which artificial intelligence is the ultimate problem solver. Alexander Technique meets people where they are, in the present moment, instead of influencing from afar and spinning a fantasy world. But, as we know, very few people have heard of Alexander Technique at all and there has to be a way to get the word out. I hope that this campaign helps to raise the visibility of AT and gets a few more people to try it out and see what it’s all about.

In closing, I believe that I am supposed to raise the rallying cry of Like, Share, Subscribe! However, I would be even more delighted if you put down whatever device you are reading this on and went for a short walk, or took a minute for a few slow inhales and exhales. Your mind and body will thank you for taking time for yourself instead of for the next post.
